In August 2025 we celebrated the incredible craftsmanship behind the elaborate decoration at Two Temple Place with our Free festival The Celebration of Makers. The event was so warmly received that we plan to do it all again in 2026.
Across all four days of the event we had almost 3,000 visitors who joined live demonstrations of the crafts used to create the building – including stone carving, wood carving, gilding, and conservation, in collaboration with City and Guilds of London Art School. They also enjoyed understanding stained glass with The Stained Glass Museum and Crafty Fox Market took over the Lower Gallery on Saturday 30th August with their first Sample & Seconds makers market in 3 years. There were drop in Workshops all ages on Stained Glass windows, Clay Cherubs and Printmaking with 255 participants. More than 160 joined the audience for our ticketed evening talks: Floor Gazing: A geological guide to marbles at Two Temple Place; In Conversation: Ben Alsop, Claire Jones and Constance Booker: On Two Temple Place, its commissioner, makers and the gilded age in which it was built; and The Pygmalion Project: Is there life in carving yet?
The Celebration of Makers benefited from the financial support of the Fleet Street Quarter Community Fund 2025.
