Exhibition Programming

Two Temple Place is the first London venue specifically to showcase publicly-owned collections from around the UK.

Launched in 2011, the Exhibition Programme at Two Temple Place has delivered annual exhibitions in partnership with public museums, galleries and collections from around the UK. Since then, exhibitions have brought some of the very best regional collections together in major showcases at our London home for hundreds of thousands of visitors.

We are now looking at new ways of animating and sharing our building across the fullest range of artforms, so we’d like to hear from you if you are a professional artist, creator, curator, theatre-maker or cultural institution looking for an extraordinary London home for an exhibition idea, and a real creative partnership.

Our Cultural & Community Report illustrates the breadth of the programme and cites the success and impact our exhibitions alongside our wider Cultural & Community Programmes.

Two Temple Place itself is an extraordinary architectural gem, commissioned by and built for William Waldorf Astor in the late 19th century. As a unique venue in central London, exhibitions are intended to raise awareness of both the specific works on display and our partner museums and galleries around the country. The spaces have been fully adapted to accommodate exhibitions, with top grade lighting and hanging systems, security and environmental controls, and conform fully to the terms of the Government Indemnity Scheme.

For the curator(s), devising a show for the ornate and intricately decorated space is a huge challenge that calls for imagination and ingenuity. Successful exhibitions bring together works in ways that respond to and complement the building’s unique décor, often to stunning effect.

We welcome new and exciting ideas for our annual exhibitions from professional curators and institutions.

From 2021, we have been building on the Exhibition Programme to create a year-round programme of cross-artform activities, from music to live performance and talks and to develop our read to community groups and the public. We recommend that you talk to us about your project, and you should certainly read our Cultural & Community Report, but we want to make almost anything possible.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss an Exhibition proposal please contact our Head of Culture & Community, Rebecca Hone, on 020 7836 3715 or rebecca@twotempleplace.org
