Sir Percy Thomas (13 September 1883 – 19 August 1969), the former President of RIBA, led the extensive repair and rebuilding of Two Temple Place after World War 2 which included remodelling of the West side of the building. It is striking just how much of the building was rebuilt and a great credit to the Incorporated Accountants that it was not torn down like the similarly damaged neighbouring Middle Temple Library. Thomas changed the footprint of the building subtly to fill more of the plot it sits on and most obviously installed the bay window in place of the destroyed carving and strong room on the first floor, now the green William Morris room.
