Traces of Makers: the artists and craft workers who made Two Temple Place
Two Temple Place was crafted by highly skilled, but largely unrecorded, working-class artists and makers. In this talk, Claire Jones, considers what we know of their contributions to Two Temple Place’s interior decoration, and how we might make more visible the traces of these individuals in the building today.
Claire Jones is a senior lecturer in art history at the University of Birmingham. Her research centres on sculpture in 19th century France and Britain, particularly the ways in which sculpture intersects with the decorative arts; discourses around makers, materials and making; and histories of display.
Doors open from 6.30pm. Talk starts 7pm. The talk will last around an hour including time for questions.
