Decorative Knicker Making with Mathilda

Design and sew your own pair of decorative knickers using only second-hand fabrics. Forget functionality—this workshop celebrates knickers as art objects, personal statements, and sexy acts of rebellion.

Stitch a pair to wear or purely for display. No sewing experience needed. All materials provided.

Please do bring in any fabric you have that you’d like to work with.

All fabric welcome, clothing, curtains, blankets, buttons anything you want to incorporate. You could even bring in a tired pair of your own knickers and give them a make over !

We will have a range of fabric available to use. As well as buttons and elastic trims.

Mathilda’s work investigates how we practise care and how aesthetic values influence the quality of that care. Focused on exploring the relationship between fibre, feminism and the history of women’s labour. Mathilda works across sculpture, film, textiles as well as workshop facilitation, primarily using second hand, discarded materials. She has delivered art workshops at Hampton court palace, Now galleries, Arsenal Football club and at various community centres across London. She is currently studying a Fine Art degree at Central Saint Martins.

*Please note, some of Mathilda’s sculptures will be displayed in the room. They are made out of broken real fur coats. All fur used is recycled from unwearable torn fur coats, nothing is bought new.
