Listening to a century of Jazz

The Band, by Edward Burra

What does it mean to improvise? How has group playing changed over the century? How should we be listening to jazz?

Curator, Catherine Tackley takes us on a jazz-journey through the last century, to explore these questions, among others, and examine how developments in the music have not only affected how it is played, but also how this beloved art-form is listened to.

Please note, that doors will open at 6pm and that seating is unreserved. The exhibition will also re-open at 6pm, as will the café, which will serve drinks and bar snacks until 6:30pm.
