Cotton to Gold
Extraordinary Collections of the Industrial North West
31st January – 19th April 2015
An exhibition revealing the stunning collections held by the museums of Lancashire, which included some of the finest treasures in the country.
The riches amassed by 19th Century Lancastrian cotton magnates include: Roman coins, medieval manuscripts, Tiffany glass, Turner watercolours, Japanese prints, preserved beetles, taxidermy and even a Peruvian mummy. All of this and more filled the opulent interiors of Two Temple Place during the winter of 2015. Cotton to Gold was hosted in partnership with Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery, Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington and Towneley Hall in Burnley.
