Responding to Two Temple Place’s elaborate decoration, these new sound artworks created by young people aged 13-24 activate the house through a sonic, imaginary exploration.

The exhibition is the result of a 12-week course for 13-24 year olds, convened by Holborn Community Association in partnership with Two Temple Place. Led by sound artist Hannah Kemp-Welch, over the 12 weeks the group was introduced to a variety of tools and techniques used in sound art practices. Young people experimented with field recording, composition and editing, listened to audio essays, went on sound walks and performed graphic scores. Participants explored Two Temple Place and responded to areas they found engaging , creating new sound works which will be showcased throughout the building on 22, 23 and 24 July, 11-4pm. Please book a FREE timed entry ticket via our What’s on page.

If you are not able to visit, you can listen to the works HERE on soundcloud.

Hannah Kemp-Welch is a sound artist with a socially-engaged practice. She works with community groups to compose audio works using voices, field recordings and found sound, for audio installations, radio broadcasts and online artworks. This work aims to open out sonic practices and technologies, and make community concerns audible in the public realm.

Holborn Community Association‘s Digital Media Program offers children and young people aged 8-24 opportunities to experiment with new technologies and digital art forms through workshops, courses and trips. Their free weekly Media Arts Club is open to all young people aged 13 – 24 years old who want to take part in exciting, hands-on media arts projects, offering a chance to learn new digital and creative skills, increase their confidence and aspiration through producing their own artwork supported by professional artists. The Digital Media Program is funded by John Lyon’s Charity.
